What is FinTech ?

Financial Technology is an economic industry composed of companies that use technology to make financial services more efficient.

Financial technology companies are generally startups founded with the purpose of disrupting incumbent financial systems and corporations that rely less on software.

Why Iasi ?

The first edition will be a hackathon held in Iasi, Romania. Iasi is the city where companies such as Microsoft, Endava, Xerox, Amazon, Continental proved to find this talented resource.
Such corporations opened offices and moved entire departments in the tech minded metropole. Iasi hosts around 6000 programmers, and a lot more people are considering this path. Romania has proved to be one of the countries which has outstanding and yet affordable talent.

So where this talent comes from, you may ask?! Institutions such as “ Universitatea Alexandru Ioan Cuza”, the oldest university in Romania and “Universitatea Gheorghe Asachi”, have their top tier graduates working in the above mentioned companies.

After Iasi, we’re considering the next edition to be held in Bucharest, following as next targets other big cities in the region.
